Yvonne Graham’s Testimony
Brian’s introductory remark:
I had a developing friendship with Glyn and Yvonne over some years, based on a mutual love of trains and railways, shared with Glyn and endured by Yvonne and my wife Gilly. One happy day when visiting a steam railway with our friends, the subject turned to Gilly’s and my belief in the return of the Lord Jesus and a frank discussion on the Rapture, Tribulation and Second Coming followed. Later the discussions continued at the Sidings Restaurant and Hotel and the subject matter was turned around to the nature of salvation, the finished work of Jesus on the cross and eternal verities. At one point Glyn asked the classic question “What must we do to be saved?”. When answered, their response was to receive the Lord Jesus as Saviour and King and they continue to this day proclaiming the coming day of the Lord and the good news of Salvation. Numerous members of their family have since come to the Lord Jesus as Saviour. Yvonne’s personal testimony is below for encouragement and edification.
Yvonne's Testimony
Where shall I start! Like a lot of children my age I went to Sunday school and chapel twice every Sunday. My mother and grandparents were strict Methodists. I couldn't even play out on Sundays. I had heard all the lovely Bible stories and read my Bible as I got a bit older, but no one told me I could be born again. It wasn't until I visited the Sidings Hotel and Restaurant with my husband and we met Brian and he started talking to us about how Jesus had died for me and he wanted to come into my heart that I really started thinking. I knew about the crucifixion of Jesus but I always thought of it as history, an event that happened long ago. I hadn't realised that it was as relevant today as it was then. Of course because I had been christened as a baby I felt that was it and I was a Christian I'm going to heaven when I died. I hadn't realise this had to be a personal decision and except I as my Lord and saviour to be accepted by God in his heavenly home.
When Brian asked if I wanted to give my life to the Lord Jesus and open my heart to him I said yes. As Brian and Gilly prayed for me I was born again.
I felt a strange peace in my heart and the peace still remains.
In all the troubled times, we have had Jesus who has been with us and do wonderful things in our lives and the lives of our family.
Please don't try and do things in your own strength, put your trust in our Lord Jesus Christ and let him do work for you. It is the best thing that ever happened to me. I was born again on 12 September 1993.
Don't be put off being born again as the Day of the Lord is coming soon. Amen.
